Doctoral Studies
International postgraduates are welcome to do their doctoral studies at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (hereinafter referred to as VILNIUS TECH). A PhD program corresponds to 4 years studies (full-time mode) and 6 years studies (part-time mode).
The Ph.D. program consists of:
- Independent research under supervision;
- Courses for PhD students (approximately 30 ECTS credits);
- Participation in research networks, including placements at other, primarily foreign, research institutions;
- Teaching or another form of knowledge dissemination, which is related to the PhD topic when possible;
- The completion of a PhD thesis.
The cost of 1 credit of doctoral study subject – 90,00 Eur.

Application Procedure
- A candidate fills in the Application form
- Pays application fee
- International Studies Centre reviews the education documents for qualification recognition purposes and if necessary, consults with ENIC-NARIC center in Lithuania. If necessary International Studies Centre can ask for additional documents or confirmations about your previous education.
- International Studies Centre sends out an invite to record and interview via the application system. A candidate must complete an interview in 5 days on the convenient time. Faculty reviews an interview recording.
- International Studies Centre sends an official letter of Conditional Acceptance.
- A candidate, after receiving the official Conditional Acceptance letter, pays the Tuition fee for the first year of studies and Registration fee as well.
- International Studies Centre, after receiving the fee, uploads document necessary for visa application to the EPIS system and sends to student mediation letter number.
- After receiving the mediation letter number, a student applies for Lithuanian visa at the nearest Lithuanian Embassy.
- The Lithuanian Embassy initiates the visa issue procedure.
- After the period of typically 10 to 14 days, the Lithuanian Embassy informs student that his/her visa is issued. (In case the visa application is rejected, ISC refunds the Tuition fee and Registration fee back to the student.)
Applying to Vilnius TECH
Applications cannot be processed unless they include all the following:
- Filled in information as required in the application system;
- Certificate of Education (Secondary/ Undergraduate degree, etc) including Grades. Country specific requirements here.
- Curriculum Vitae;
- English proficiency certificate;
- A Copy of Passport;
Admission Requirements
- For Bachelor’s programs
- Secondary School Graduation Certificate with good results (minimum 60% CGPA), particularly in Mathematics, Physics, and English. Applications must be accompanied by legalized English translations of all transcripts. Unofficial copies are not accepted.
- English language proficiency.
- No entrance examinations (except for Architecture and Landscape Architecture program) for foreigners are needed.
- For Architecture/Landscape Architecture program, entrance test is required.
- Gap since your last completed degree should not exceed three years.
- For Master’s programs
- Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (official transcripts required) with grades (minimum 60% CGPA).
- Two academic references.
- Acceptance by the Dean’s Office of the chosen faculty.
- Students’ motivation for specific program (qualified students will be asked to record an interview).
- English language proficiency.
- Gap since your last completed degree should not exceed three years or you should provide credible professional work experience certificates.
- For PhD programs
- MSc degree or its equivalent (official transcripts required).
- Achievement of good results in research.
- Evaluation of diploma from Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education.
- Scientist’s recommendations.
- Acceptance by the Dean’s Office of the chosen faculty.
Accommodation
Students can choose to live in the University dormitory, private hostel or to rent apartment in the city.
VILNIUS TECH international students’ dormitory is located in the university campus, it takes about 7-10 min walk to the building of administration of the VILNIUS TECH.
