Lithuania announces hosts for the 2020 national final

Gabriele and Giedrius are television presenters who are no strangers to the show. Having presented Eurovizijos Atranka 2019, they return as a duo once again. Joining them is Ieva who was the representative of Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. The former entrant will host the green room and interview this year’s Lithuanian hopefuls.

“We purposely invited Ieva to join the selection team. The green room draws many new faces every year that the viewer wants to know more about. We believe that the person who has been on the big Eurovision stage and understands the importance of not only music but also communication is the best way to talk to them, and to help evaluate how well they are able to represent Lithuania in this competition. After all, Ieva won the Eurovision audience’s sympathy not only for her song but also for her sincere communication, ” said LRT chief producer Audrius Giržadas.

The 2020 show

The first heat has been confirmed as 11th January 2020 and the grand final will be a live show on 15th February. It has not yet been confirmed what dates and shows will fall between those two events, however, we do know that the plan is to have six shows in total: three heats, two semi finals, and of course the grand final.

The submission window closed on 8th December and LRT has stated that they have received 60 songs, 36 of which have been selected for the show.

Lithuania at Eurovision

Lithuania first entered the contest in 1994 with “Lopšinė mylimai” by Ovidijus Vyšniauskas. Ieva Zasimauskaitė, our show host, sang “When We’re Old” in 2018 and came 12th in the grand final with 181 points. Next year in Rotterdam will be the Baltic nation’s 21st Eurovision appearance
