Disinfection robot bought by EC delivered to Lithuaniaadmin
A disinfection robot purchased by the European Commission has been delivered to Lithuania and set to be brought to a policlinic in central Vilnius, the European Commission Representation in Lithuania reports.
Such robots are aimed at ensuring a sterile environment at hospitals and policlinics without causing unnecessary risk to staff.
Such a robot uses UV light, and not chemicals, for disinfection, therefore, staff member do not need to store, transport or handle toxic, hazardous or corrosive chemicals.
A special app is used to operate such a robot from outside the room under disinfection. A stand-size room can be disinfected in 10 minutes and such a robot can use its battery time to disinfect 18 rooms.
The European Commission says it will buy 200 such robots for hospitals in EU member states and is allocating up to 12 million euros for the purpose.
